Was Anything He Said at the Debate True?

  1. Nancy Pelosi was responsible for January 6th. Quoting Trump: "Nancy Pelosi, if you watched the news from two days ago, on tape to her daughter who is a documentary filmmaker they say, but she's saying, 'Oh no, it's my responsibility. I was responsible for this,' because I offered them 10,000 soldiers or National Guard, and she turned them down." Fact: She has not authority over the National Guard and is literally on film that day asking local officials to deploy National Guard troops when Trump didn't.
  2. Dems allow abortions even after birth. Quoting Trump: "They're radical because they will take the life of the child in the eighth month, the ninth month, and even after birth. After birth, if you look at the Governor of Virginia, he was willing to do this. He said, 'we'll put the baby aside, I will determine what we will do with the baby,' meaning will kill the baby." Fact: Gov. Northam, a pediatrician, is referring to the tragic situation of non-viable or severely deformed and required three doctors confirming its necessary. Killing after birth is considered murder.   
  3. Trump never had sex with Stormy. Quoting Trump: "I didn't have sex with a porn star." Fact: A jury - not a judge - determined Trump did have sex with Stormy. On a linked point, Trump is a convicted felon on 34 felony counts for falsifying business records related to Stormy. 
  4. He thinks his was the best economy ever. Quoting Trump: "We had the greatest economy in the history of our country. We have never done so well, and everybody was amazed by it." Fact: The change in GDP were similar to Obama's and well below that of earlier presidents. Biden's economy has been as good or better than Trump's.
  5. Trump thinks tariffs don't hurt the little guy. Quoting Trump: “[Tariffs are] just going to just force [other countries] to pay us a lot of money.” Fact: those costs are going to get passed along by the companies paying them. There's no free lunch.
  6. Regarding taxes, quoting Trump: “I gave you the largest tax cut in history.” Facts: not close. Reagan's was much larger. Three times larger in fact.
  7. His tax cut brought in more revenue. Quoting Trump: “Now, when we cut the taxes…we took in more revenue with much less tax.” Fact: They've added over $100B a year to our deficit.
  8. He wasn't a medical genius either. Quoting Trump: “We had largely fixed (Covid)." Fact: 90% of excess deaths happened since 2020.
  9. He thinks undocumented immigrants are not who they really are. Quoting Trump: “He (Biden) allowed millions of people to come in here from prisons, jails, and mental institutions to come into our country and destroy our country.” Fact: this is mathematically impossible, doesn't reflect other countries not releasing criminals, and is most likely channeling inflated numbers from 1983 from Cuba. 
  10. Doesn't understand citizenship. Quoting Trump: “He's (Biden's) destroying Medicare because all of these people are coming in.” Fact: People arriving in the US illegally don't qualify for Medicare. Or Medicaid. Or Social Security. They pay taxes if they work, but don't get to benefit from them.
  11. His position on abortion refutes common sense. Quoting Trump: “Every legal scholar throughout the world, the most respected, wanted [abortion] brought back to the states. Fact: Hundreds of legal scholars have said the exact opposite.
  12. “[Migrants are] living in luxury hotels in New York City and other places.”
  13. “He doesn't care about our veterans. He doesn’t care. He doesn’t like the military at all, and he doesn't care about our veterans.”
  14. “First of all, that was a made-up quote, ‘suckers and losers.’ They made it up.”
  15. “Our veterans and our soldiers can't stand this guy. They can't stand him. They think he’s the worst Commander in Chief, if that’s what you call him, that we’ve ever had.”
